What is HTML?
HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language, and it is the most widely used language for creating web pages on the Internet. Berners-Lee created HTML in late 1991, but the first standard HTML specification, "HTML 2.0," was published in 1995. HTML 4.01 was released in late 1999 as a major version of HTML. Though HTML 4.01 is still widely used, we now have HTML-5, which is an extension to HTML 4.01 and was released in 2012.
Why should you learn HTML?
HTML was created with the intention of defining the structure of documents such as headings, paragraphs, lists, and so on in order to make scientific information more accessible to researchers. HTML is now widely used to format web pages using the various tags available in the HTML language.
