Php Training

The acronym PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor. PHP is a server-side scripting language that was created with web development in mind. It is open-source, which means you can download and use it for free. It is very easy to understand and use. ".php" is the extension of the files.

Rasmus Lerdorf was the driving force behind the first version of PHP and later versions. It's an interpreted language that doesn't need a compiler to run.

  • The PHP code is run on the server.
  • Many databases, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase, and Informix, can be integrated.
  • It can be used to control user access and hold a content management system like WordPress.
  • It supports HTTP Basic, HTTP Digest, IMAP, FTP, and other protocols.
  • PHP is also used to power websites like www.facebook.com and www.yahoo.com.
  • One of the primary reasons for this is that PHP can easily be embedded in HTML files, and HTML codes can also be written in PHP files.
  • PHP differs from client-side languages such as HTML in that PHP codes are executed on the server, whereas HTML codes are rendered directly in the browser.
  • PHP codes are run on the server first, and the results are then sent to the browser.
The result returned after executing the PHP script on the server is the only information available to the client or browser, not the PHP codes themselves. Other client-side scripting languages, such as CSS and JavaScript, can also be supported by PHP files.

Other characteristics of PHP are as follows.

  • Simple and fast
  • Efficient
  • Secured
  • Flexible
  • Cross-platform, it works with major operating systems like Windows, Linux, MacOS.

Why should we use PHP?

PHP is capable of handling all aspects of server-side scripting, also known as the backend of a website. PHP, for instance, can receive data from forms, generate dynamic page content, work with databases, create sessions, send and receive cookies, and send emails, among other things. PHP also includes a number of hash functions for encrypting user data, making it a secure and reliable server-side scripting language. These are some of PHP's features that make it suitable for use as a server-side scripting language. In subsequent tutorials, you will learn more about these abilities.

Even if the above abilities of PHP do not persuade you, PHP has a few more features. PHP is compatible with all major operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Unix, and Mac OS X. PHP is supported by almost all of today's major servers, including Apache. PHP supports a wide variety of databases.
